About the role
- Manage products and vendors through the entire product lifecycle from strategic planning in support of the Distributed Compute and Storage Team
- Work closely with product engineering teams, manage vendor contracts and vendor performance
- Build and present investment business cases for purchases and renewals
- Collaborate with business unit partners including procurement, finance, Risk
- Serve as a focal point for assigned products; lead collaboration sessions to identify opportunities and assist with overall strategy
- Convey strategy when presenting investment opportunities to leadership and participate in governance processes to complete investments
- Manage business and vendor relationships to ensure full value from investments
- Support Product Enablement Team in translating strategy into spend decisions, process integration, and risk mitigation
Requirements
- 10+ years of technical product &/or vendor management experience
- Related vendor experience and technical expertise with distributed on-premises and external cloud storage (All Types), Block, File, NAS, Object, WORM, S3, Hyper-converged, Backup
- Storage Area Networks (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NVME)
- Data Protection and Recovery (Backups), Immutable storage, Air gapping, Fast recovery, on-premises and external clouds
- Data retention management and storage ecosystem observability and performance monitoring, performance, utilization across all systems
- Ability to translate technology terminology to business relatable terms
- Expertise in leading vendors and contracts through the acquisition and renewal process
- Strong interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing skills with an ability to engage senior management
- Data-focused approach, with the ability to interpret strategic objectives into actionable tasks
- Ability to define product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria
- Solid focus on execution and ability to identify, communicate, and remove impediments
- Capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues; demonstrate servant leadership behaviors
- Continuously improve, encourage, and collaborate with team members
- Agile experience; Jira and Jira Align preferred
- Financial services experience a plus
