About the role

  • Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB) independently
  • Responsibility for the proper maintenance of the general ledger, including ensuring correct postings, accruals, and closing entries
  • Management and oversight of subsidiary ledgers, in particular: accounts receivable (customer receivables, incoming payments)
  • Accounts payable (incoming invoices, travel expense reports, payment processing)
  • Fixed asset accounting including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
  • Maintenance, development and standardization of account reconciliation processes and documentation
  • Ensuring timely and complete recording of all business transactions in accordance with accounting standards
  • Close cooperation with adjacent teams (Billing Accountant, Accounts Receivable & Controlling) to ensure consistent data and processes
  • Support in the preparation of closing documentation and audit files for internal and external audits
  • Ensuring compliance with internal control systems (ICS) in the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and tax requirements
  • Preparation of VAT returns and EC Sales Lists for the tax office

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting or financial accounting, ideally with a background as a tax clerk and/or experience in a tax firm
  • Solid knowledge of ongoing accounting as well as preparation of monthly and annual financial statements under HGB, including collaboration with external tax advisors and auditors
  • Experience in in-house accounting, preferably at a SaaS or tech company, and understanding of digital and scalable business models
  • Proficient use of accounting software, ideally Agenda, and openness to cloud-based tools such as Zoho
  • Structured, meticulous and independent working style with strong numerical affinity and a sense of responsibility
  • Strong team and communication skills and fluent German; very good English skills are a plus.
