Backend Engineer

• Design, develop and continuously improve Go-based gRPC services, including OAuth flows, integrations and caching strategies
• Develop and operate service backends in TypeScript/Node.js (e.g., using Hono), including internal and merchant APIs, background workers and scheduled jobs
• Design contract-first APIs (Protobuf/OpenAPI), including versioning strategies and safe rollouts across multiple consuming services
• Own data reliability and consistency across Redis caches, MySQL persistence and asynchronous job queues (e.g., SQS)
• Implement security and multi-tenant access patterns, including M2M authentication, signed query parameters and internal authentication mechanisms
• Build and enhance observability and resilience, including structured logs, metrics, tracing, retry mechanisms and backpressure strategies
• Work closely with platform and infrastructure teams to optimize AWS-based deployments (ECS, Terraform, CI/CD, secret management)

• Solution design & architecture
• Conduct comprehensive technical discovery workshops to understand clients' business models, requirements, constraints, and success criteria.
• Design holistic e-commerce architectures, including core platform configuration, integrations, custom extensions, and third-party technologies.
• Define architecture patterns, data flows, and integration strategies taking into account best practices for scalability, performance, and security.
• Evaluate trade-offs between custom development and the platform's standard features.
• Implementation support
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact during the implementation process and support partners during development, integrations, and go-lives.
• Work closely with Sales on go-to-market strategies, project scoping, effort estimation, and risk assessments.
• Communicate technical concepts, assumptions, and constraints clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders at the management level.
• Support proofs of concept (PoCs) and technical validations as needed.
• Collaboration with partners & delivery teams
• Work closely with agencies and system integration partners (SI partners) to validate delivery approaches and ensure architectural alignment.
• Review partners' solution designs and implementation plans for compliance with platform standards and best practices.
• Provide support during onboarding and in early project phases to ensure smooth customer launches.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the project lifecycle.

• Build and maintain a deep understanding of the e-commerce platform, its product roadmap, and relevant ecosystem technologies.
• Continuously monitor market trends, new technologies, and evolving architecture patterns.
• Relay customer and partner feedback to product and engineering teams to drive continuous platform improvement.

• Prospect and generate new business opportunities through outbound sales activities including cold outreach, LinkedIn networking, partner referrals, industry events, and strategic prospecting
• Own the full sales cycle from discovery through implementation handoff to account management/customer success teams
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of mid-market and enterprise commerce opportunities
• Conduct discovery meetings to understand customer goals, pain points, and technical requirements
• Drive awareness of the Shopware platform within the US eCommerce ecosystem
• Develop a deep understanding of Shopware’s platform capabilities, ICPs, pricing models, and partner ecosystem
• Conduct product demonstrations and presentations tailored to merchant and partner needs
