About the role
- Implement operational site programs and processes for receipt, storage, transportation, and disposal of food and other applicable consumable products (as needed) to ensure customer safety, regulatory compliance and customer success.
- Develop and enhance Product/Food Safety & Compliance Operations programs for existing and emerging businesses.
- Write policies, standards for existing and emerging businesses; create and implement training programs to deliver regulatory compliance execution at the site & network level.
- Conduct a risk assessment and develop a road map for operational processes, design and execute compliance and product safety interventions, leverage auditing mechanisms, and analyze regulatory impacts of business models.
- Enable scalable business solutions.
- Work independently with Site and Regional Ops Leadership to ensure product/food safety and compliance to the regulatory and customer requirements.
- Develop business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness; using data to identify compliance trends.
- Continuously identify and communicate improvement opportunities.
- Provide 24x7 support to field operations for issues involving the food safety and/or inventory, receiving and merchant systems.
- Leads the development, maintenance, and execution of the product safety and quality management system across all sites. Oversees internal audit programs, training, recall coordination, and the continual improvement of systems to ensure product safety, legality, and regulatory compliance.
- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
Requirements
- Requires 30%-40% travel.
- Bachelor's degree in food science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing Product/Food Safety, Compliance and Quality in a large-scale distribution, retail, grocery, food service, or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Product safety regulations (local, state, FDA, USDA).
- Certified Professional-Food Safety, Registered Environmental Health Specialist, Sanitarian, PCQI.
- HACCP plan development experience (basic and/or advanced HACCP training).
