About the role

  • Visionary Guidance: Define and communicate a clear technical vision for the team, aligning it with SEON's strategic priorities and product roadmap. Inspire and motivate senior engineers to achieve ambitious goals.
  • High-Impact Delivery: Accountable for the successful, on-time delivery of complex, critical projects that are central to SEON's "biggest bets." Ensure the team consistently meets and exceeds predefined requirements and quality standards.
  • Technical Excellence & Innovation: Drive architectural decisions, foster a culture of technical innovation, and ensure the adoption of best practices in software design, security, code quality, performance, and scalability across the team's critical projects.
  • Risk Mitigation & Problem Solving: Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate technical and operational risks associated with high-stakes projects. Lead the team in effectively troubleshooting and resolving complex issues with minimal time to resolution.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as a key liaison and representative for the team in discussions and agreements with Product Management, Engineering Leadership, and Customer Success, ensuring seamless collaboration and strategic alignment on priorities and initiatives.
  • Optimized Methodologies: Continuously optimize and nurture the team's development methodologies and lifecycle, focusing on agility as well as predictability, rapid iteration, and high-quality outcomes for critical projects.
  • Technical Debt & Improvement: Establish and refine processes for identifying, collecting, and strategically addressing technical debt. Propose and lead technical improvement initiatives that enhance the team's efficiency and product robustness.
  • Metrics-Driven Improvement: Analyze team and component-specific engineering metrics and measures, translating insights into actionable strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Performance & Recognition: Foster a high-performance culture through continuous, constructive feedback and recognition tailored to senior contributors. Identify and address team bottlenecks, optimizing efficiency and empowering autonomous problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: 3+ years of proven experience in mentoring, leading, and managing highly senior software engineers, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Full-Stack Expertise: 7+ years of extensive experience in full-stack SaaS/web application development, with a deep understanding of complex, distributed systems.
  • React Proficiency: 2+ years of hands-on experience with React, demonstrating expertise in building scalable and maintainable front-end architectures.
  • Node.js Proficiency: 2+ years of strong experience with NodeJS, preferably NestJS, including designing and implementing robust back-end services.
  • Technical Acumen: Exceptional software engineering capabilities in JavaScript and TypeScript, coupled with profound knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 and designing/implementing RESTful API development.
  • Cloud & DevOps Savvy: Solid experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and cloud providers (AWS preferred, including experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform).
  • Agile & Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Agile development environment, demonstrating strong adaptability and problem-solving skills for ambiguous and complex challenges.
  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, design, and implement end-to-end solutions that align with business objectives and technical vision.
  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving: Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and proactive solution recommendation.
