About the role

  • Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Public Affairs
  • Works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to execute strategic communications plans
  • Supports and leads communications planning that advances SHN′s strategic plan
  • Develops high quality content for the hospital′s various online and print communication vehicles
  • Prioritizes work and performs multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines

Requirements

  • Completion of a 2-year Community College Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, journalism or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in corporate communications or agency role
  • Creative thinker who always pushes the boundaries of what is possible
  • Experience in creating compelling communications including all staff memos, key messages, e-newsletters, campaign material, video scripts, remarks, news releases, online stories, posters, Q-and-As, social media posts, etc.
  • Familiar with email marketing, online surveys, best practices and tips (i.e. MailChimp)
  • Familiar with content management systems such as Word Press, SharePoint etc.
  • Skilled in Adobe Photoshop/InDesign, MS Office
  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills (following Canadian Press Style)
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Excellent work performance and attendance
