About the role
- Prepare project budgets based on program concepts for our German projects
- Manage and monitor the use of funds (public and private funds)
- Prepare and review fund drawdown requests
- Prepare interim and final financial reports
- Review travel expense claims and invoices
- Review fee, grant and cooperation agreements and contribute to finance-related sections: fund drawdown procedures, templates, deadlines
- Monitor and control financial reports and fund drawdowns from partner organizations and grant recipients
- Maintain databases by recording and updating project data, fund drawdowns and contract information
- Track donor policies for public (e.g. EU or AMIF) and private grants and other standards related to grant law, federal budget regulations, expenditure deadlines, procurement rules, etc.
Requirements
- University degree with a focus on economics, law, public administration or comparable qualifications/experience
- Several years of solid professional experience in managing project finances in a non-profit organization, ideally with grant-funded projects
- Basic accounting knowledge, understanding of budget and grant law, and institutional donor guidelines at EU, federal and state levels (in particular EU, AMIF)
- Strong numerical affinity and confident use of Microsoft Office applications
- Flexible, positive and solution-oriented mindset
- High level of initiative, decisiveness and enjoyment in shaping strategic processes
- Experience using ERP and CRM systems
- Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
