About the role
- Create and prepare content for press relations and pitch a range of formats and topics to editorial teams
- Coordinate media inquiries and support subject-matter experts during interviews or background briefings
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with media contacts
- Prepare and handle logistics for press trips in coordination with Save the Children country offices and team management; where necessary, undertake independent business travel
- Support the planning and implementation of press activities such as briefings, trainings and events
- Create social media content
- Contribute to the strategic development of press work to strengthen brand and thematic presence in a changing media landscape
- Work closely with other departments and teams (e.g., Advocacy, Program, Fundraising and Marketing) to align communications activities
- Take on additional tasks as agreed with the team management
Requirements
- University degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in a press office or editorial environment (ideally 3–5 years)
- Established contacts with journalists and media professionals, particularly in TV and radio
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
- Strong research skills and excellent organisational abilities
- Interest in current developments and trends in the media landscape and on social media, and solid knowledge of audiovisual and digital communication
- Desirable: knowledge of national and international humanitarian emergency response and development cooperation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills combined with initiative
- Creativity, interpersonal skills and a sense of responsibility
- Reliable, flexible and solution-oriented working style
