About the role
- Build and scale the data team
- Recruit and manage data engineers, analytics engineers, and data analysts
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative culture focused on delivering actionable insights
- Balance hands-on technical work with strategic leadership and team development
- Establish scalable processes and best practices as the team grows
- Own our data strategy and ensure alignment with business objectives across product, marketing, and sales
- Design scalable data pipelines, architecture, and governance using modern tools like BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Airbyte and Looker
- Partner with engineering to enhance product telemetry and data collection
- Implement data quality frameworks and monitoring systems
- Build LLM-powered self-serve analytics capabilities that enable teams across the organization to answer their own questions
- Work closely with sales, marketing, and product leadership to define and challenge how we measure success
- Bring a strong point of view on B2B SaaS metrics – what to measure, how to measure it, and when our current approach needs rethinking
- Lead strategic analyses on customer behavior, product adoption, pipeline performance, and business health
- Translate complex data into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
- B2B SaaS experience: You've built and scaled data functions at fast-growing B2B startups. You understand the nuances of B2B metrics and can speak the language of product, sales and marketing leaders
- Experience: 5+ years in data roles with 3+ years building and scaling data teams
- Leadership: Proven ability to define strategy, prioritize ruthlessly, and execute. You're comfortable with ambiguity and can drive change in a fast-moving environment
- AI/LLM fluency: You're excited about using LLMs to democratize data access across the organization and understand how to get good output from AI tools
- Communication: Outstanding ability to influence stakeholders and translate technical concepts into business insights
- Ownership mindset: High accountability and sense of urgency with bias toward action and problem-solving – able to do IC work when needed
- Technical expertise: Strong in SQL, Python, data modeling, and modern data stack (we use BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Looker)
