About the role
- Oversee revenue contract reviews ensuring proper accounting practices in conformity with ASC 606 and SOX requirements
- Partner with Deal Desk, Sales and other stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance with revenue policies and propose solutions to customer constraints
- Lead the financial close and SOX compliance processes for the Revenue Accounting team ensuring deliverables are provided accurately and on-time
- Supervise execution of special projects to improve customer experience, automate tasks, and enhance systems to drive efficiency and reduce risk
- Collaborate with Order to Cash, General Ledger Accounting, Finance Operations, and other cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and drive process improvements
- Support the Director, Revenue Accounting to operationalize revenue accounting policies and evaluate appropriateness of key assertions and estimates
- Provide technical thought leadership on in-flight deals and influence system enhancements to automate processes and reduce risk
- Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles across the organization
Requirements
- 8+ years of combined experience working in public accounting and revenue accounting with an emphasis on ASC 606
- Strong grasp of ASC 606 with ability to research, interpret, memorialize and apply accounting standards to Samsara’s facts and circumstances
- Experience managing or leading a team
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and best practices
- BS/BA in Accounting or equivalent required
- Netsuite, Salesforce, and integrations experience (preferred)
- Exposure to high growth public SaaS company environments (preferred)
- Familiarity with combined performance obligations accounting policies in a multi-product environment (preferred)
- ERP implementation experience (preferred)
- CPA designation (preferred)
- Demonstrated resilience in operating in fast-paced, high growth environments (preferred)
