About the role

  • Samsara QAE team uses test engineering, automation, and data analysis to drive product quality for the Connected Operations Cloud
  • Increase automation coverage for Vehicle Gateway or Safety products within the VG firmware product group
  • Champion automation frameworks and collaborate with engineering teams to design APIs that prioritize automation
  • Partner with QE Lead/Manager, Engineering, and framework teams to define quality goals and expand test coverage
  • Focus on automating new features and regression tests to minimize regression cycle time and improve product quality
  • Build and execute automation tests simulating real-world scenarios, triage issues, and publish dashboards/reports
  • Develop an automation strategy across product life cycles and integrate hardware infrastructure for simulation and validation
  • Embed Samsara cultural principles and collaborate across global teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • At least five years of experience in developing automated test frameworks and software tools for product development and validation
  • Strong understanding of test system architectures and build/release test pipelines within SDLC
  • Understanding of embedded or distributed systems
  • Experience in setting up automated test environments and building test beds with physical hardware
  • Demonstrated proficiency in debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams
  • (Ideal) Experience with customer shipping software
  • (Ideal) Familiarity with testing devices using BLE, WiFi, LTE, GNSS
  • (Ideal) Experience defining test plans, triaging failures, and reporting metrics
  • (Ideal) Experience designing hardware infrastructure for testing (power measurement tools, RF testing)
  • (Ideal) Experience with data analysis tools (SQL, Pandas, Databricks) and test instrumentation (power supplies, battery simulators, GPS simulators)
