About the role
- Lead on‑site installation of new machines, full production lines, complex upgrades, and line relocations
- Understands machine portfolio and processes
- Prepares sites for installation; arrange for necessary equipment to the sites before installation commences, such as tools, containers, moving and safety equipment; negotiation and arrangement of accommodations and transportation to and from site
- Manages selected contractors to fulfil their scope of work on-site
- Manages Field Service Technicians on-site
- Manages schedule for installation and commissioning until acceptance of equipment, including scheduling KHS and non-KHS Field Service Technicians
- Acts as key contact to the customer, site personnel and facility
- Maintain and monitor the project schedule from installation through commissioning and acceptance
- Represent KHS professionally and maintain strong customer relationships while on site
- Completes required documentation on-site, e.g. cost tracking on installation budget, technicians on-site, daily reports to the Project Manager and customer; completes safety and customer documentation as required
- Interfaces with Engineering, Production and Project Management personnel to solve technical problems or project issues
- Responsible for the budget, including handling of FCNs with customer and contractor, communicating and correcting the schedule as needed
- Tracks quality issues in a separate reporting system
- Trains and mentors new employees on the project
- Follows KHS administration, workplace safety policies, procedures and practices
- Conveys professional image to customer; wears KHS uniform; assures that all personnel on-site will use the same uniform, maintains professional appearance, conduct, attitude, and promotes KHS’ business activities to all internal and external customers.
Requirements
- Ability to travel up to 90 percent domestically and internationally, using all modes of public transportation
- Provides his or her own hand tools
- Must be on call to travel or provide occasional telephone assistance to customers after standard work hours and on weekends
- Must be able to work in a high production environment under stress and demanding circumstances
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or Industrial Engineering or a related field
- One year service experience in packaging/processing industry in a food, beverage, chemical or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting ability
- Ability to diagnose, repair, and resolve mechanical or technical issues
- Full understanding of technical drawings, layouts, and system schematics
- Knowledge of on‑site safety standards and industrial equipment safety practices.
