About the role
- Lead the technical execution of complex, dynamic email builds using HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.
- Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS specifically for email; ability to troubleshoot responsive design issues and ensure cross-client compatibility (e.g., Litmus testing).
- Develop and deploy two-way, interactive email experiences (e.g., in-email event registration, dynamic polling) for flagship events like Dreamforce and World Tours.
- Utilize advanced AMPScript to write custom, from-scratch logic within email templates to handle complex versioning.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to define audience segments, managing data extensions, suppression logic, and daily automation imports.
- Partner with Data 360/Engineering teams to define data requirements, ensuring attribute readiness for journeys while troubleshooting audience volume discrepancies and sync failures.
- Manage the flow of data imports and triggers via SFTP and Data 360 to drive the logic, timing, and accuracy of behavior-based messaging and automated journeys.
- Architect and manage complex workflows in Automation Studio, including file triggers, scheduled activities, and multi-step data transforms to ensure seamless backend operations.
- Build and manage mature, multi-step automated journeys in Journey Builder (triggered sends, decision splits, wait logic, and exit criteria).
- Operate within a multi-Business Unit (BU) environment, managing shared data extensions and global configurations to ensure consistent deployment across AMER and EMEA regions.
- Ensure all journey and event-send data is structured correctly for downstream reporting; provide oversight on data flows to Tableau dashboards to ensure visibility into performance metrics.
- Execute A/B testing frameworks and performance measurement to optimize engagement and conversion rates.
- Serve as the regional lead for email compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR), managing consent attributes, preference center integrations, and global deliverability reputation.
- Utilize Litmus and Inbox Monster to ensure cross-client compatibility and monitor global deliverability reputation.
- Streamline production workflows by reducing manual operational gaps and establishing technical templates for faster scale.
Requirements
- Advanced hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), specifically Journey Builder, Contact Builder, and Automation Studio.
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Responsive Design for email.
- Experience with scripting languages (AMPScript, SSJS, or similar) for complex personalization.
- Strong SQL skills for querying databases, creating audience segments, and managing data schemas.
- Experience working in a global or multi-BU environment (AMER/EMEA) with an understanding of regional data nuances.
- Proven ability to work with Technical Product Managers, Data Engineers, and Marketing Operations.
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud Consultant (or Email Specialist) certification preferred. Certified Marketing Cloud Developers
