About the role
- Collaborate with Corporate Events and Government Affairs leads to ensure consistent messaging and integration across the Corporate Affairs function.
- Manage a team of four communications professionals between Syracuse, NY and Washington, D.C.
- Lead the planning, development, direction and execution of all communications strategies and initiatives.
- Drive innovative approaches to communications that support the company’s growth strategies.
- Manage the content program and ensure alignment with team members and business priorities, leveraging communications as a business growth tool.
- Effectively coordinate with the Senior Vice President and other members of senior management on critical issues, initiatives, and other company-wide priorities.
- Serve as key integrator with Group Communications in Sweden.
- Lead U.S. CEO communications.
- Provide editorial supervision of written communications, such as content pieces, press releases, product brochures and other key documents.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of philanthropic initiatives and employee engagement.
- Manage key external agency, consultant, and freelance partners.
- Travel to Sweden 2-3 times annually and domestically as needed to support business requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, or related field
- 15+ years of corporate communications experience in the defense industry or in defense policy.
- Dynamic team builder and passionate advocate for effective and innovative communications at all levels of the company.
- Strong attention to detail, including adherence to AP Stylebook.
- Highly organized and deadline driven.
- A knack for storytelling, asking important questions and driving an expert perspective across the company.
- Ability to provide in-the-moment strategic feedback and counsel to executives and business leaders.
- Meticulous writing, editing and proofreading skills and demonstrated ability to write for a variety of different audiences.
- Digital competency, including knowledge of social media, paid campaigns, web strategy and analytics.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with senior executives.
- Experience successfully managing multiple priorities and responding to urgent, near-term opportunities as well as meeting longer-term objectives.
- Thrive under pressure and respond quickly and proficiently to stakeholders.
- Consistently exceed expectations, and manage time skillfully to meet deadlines.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
