About the role
- Lead the establishment of new and iterations of existing power market simulation models using industry recognized tools.
- Develop advanced ancillary service forecasts and global battery storage optimizer, supported by scalable feature engineering, training pipelines, and cross market deployment.
- Build globally aligned market models with regional inputs, enforce consistent analytics standards, integrate diverse data and production cost outputs, and deliver actionable insights through validation, backtesting, and scenario analysis.
- Work with regional power teams to capture market rules, bidding structures, settlement mechanics, and ancillary product definitions.
- Validate models to ensure alignment with regional market behavior.
- Serve as the primary ancillary service modeling partner globally.
- Ensure models integrate cleanly with the global analytics engine. Maintain consistent conventions, assumptions, and data structures. Design with long term scalability and strategic priorities in mind.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in power market modeling using leading platforms and tools, such as PLEXOS, AURORA, PyPSA, DigSILENT PowerFactory, EATP, PowerWorld Simulator, PSCAD, OpenDSS, or other industry-grade models developed for power system dispatch simulation, price forecasting, scenario analysis, and trading analytics.
- Databricks & Data Engineering: Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, Unity Catalog Workflows, job clusters, MLflow Repo-driven development + CI/CD.
- Experience working with data engineering on automated pipelines.
- Advanced Python (pandas, NumPy, SciPy).
- ML frameworks (scikit learn, XGBoost / LightGBM).
- Short term forecasting + structural/ML hybrid modeling.
- Uncertainty modeling.
- Optimization experience with Pyomo, OR Tools, or Gurobi /CPLEX.
- Strong SQL; comfort with large multi region datasets.
- Integration of complicated data sets from various sources.
- A good understanding of power market fundamentals, grid dispatch and power trading principals, policy impacts, and industry trends.
- Collaborative mindset and experience working in cross-functional teams.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Business Analytics or a related field.
