Perform structural analysis of conventional & additively manufactured complex aerospace components including static, dynamic, thermal (steady state & transient), fatigue life, fracture mechanics (residual life) predictions and damage tolerance analyses
Provide documentation of analyses results and recommendations in the form of formal reports and presentations for management and customers
Assist in creating test plans and support validation and verification testing of components for thermal and dynamic performance and behavior
Use test information to calibrate and improve analytical methods
Participate in cross-discipline integrated product team as structures focal to provide design recommendations and solutions to meet technical, weight and cost targets
Continuously pursue ways to develop, improve, and validate analytical methods and processes to improve productivity and cost effectiveness
Support Change Requests (CRs) by preparing detailed reports and executing key activities in support to the Design team
Support the development and automation of status reports by the implementation of MATLAB, Python and similar
Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance to a small group supporting the Landing Gear group in Stress Analysis
Requirements
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
Minimum 5 years prior relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or minimum 3 years with an Advanced Degree
Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
U.S. citizenship is required
Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment; relocation is not offered
Experience using CAT and CAM tools (NX CAD/CAM or Catia CAD/CAM)
Experience using FEA tools; ANSYS (APDL or Workbench), Abacus, LSDYNA, ABAQUS, PATRAN / NASTRAN
Background in failure modes (Strength, Fatigue, Buckling, etc.)
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
Communication, presentation, teaming, and collaboration skills
Knowledge of Tolerance Stack-up calculation and Weight Analysis
Experience with computer software languages such as C++, Python, MATLAB, VBA
Experience in aerospace components (Wheels, Brakes, Landing Gears, etc.)
Willingness to support tasks related to both design development and analysis (structural, dynamic and thermal)
Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred
Experience in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI/ML) preferred
