About the role
- Provide support to manufacturing operations and drive process improvement to improve the company’s quality and delivery signature utilizing quality metrics
- Responsible for specific special processes across the value stream (primary: CBN Coating, Waterjet, Extrude Hone; additional: Surface Media Finish)
- Support PW internal shop and may include supply chain support components
- Provide direct support to the manufacturing shop floor and drive multiple manufacturing process improvements across specific process steps that spans the full value stream of the parts
- Identify & implement process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent quality turn backs /escapes and reduce overall product costs
- Perform Root cause analysis and corrective actions on non-conforming product for responsible processes using statistical analysis tools and other methods as necessary
- Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Yield & Cost curves and Qualification plan
- Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE initiatives
- Lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and minimum 5 years’ experience in an engineering, manufacturing, quality or closely related industrial environment or a Master's degree and minimum 3 years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, quality or closely related industrial environment
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in complex manufacturing activities
- Experience reading and interpreting drawings and industry specifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Degree in Manufacturing Engineering (preferred)
- Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience (preferred)
- CORE/6 Sigma Practitioner/Professional certification (preferred)
- Understanding of continuous improvement skills: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc. (preferred)
- Experience with Minitab and other statistical software (preferred)
