About the role
- Support the design and development of complex aerospace components and systems within the Hydro-Mechanical, Actuation & Pneumatic Valve Design Group
- Involved in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including conceptual design, detailed design, testing, and qualification
- Work from detailed component requirements and perform necessary analyses and specification reviews to create fully engineered physical components
- Evaluate critical design factors such as manufacturability, material and equipment availability, interchangeability, serviceability, strength-to-weight ratios, cost, and compliance with specifications
- Perform both 1-D hand calculations and advanced 3-D simulations (FEA and CFD) to analyze and validate component performance
- Develop detailed 3-D solid models using tools like NX Unigraphics aiding in packaging assessments and weight estimation
- Capture and protect innovative ideas by leveraging internal intellectual property (IP) tools and processes
- Create detailed layouts, sketches, and technical documentation to support component design and manufacturing improvements
- Contribute to the advancement of Collins Aerospace’s analysis capabilities by developing, testing, and validating new methods and tools
- Create custom in-house tools to streamline and enhance engineering analysis workflows where applicable
