About the role
- Lead technical discovery across deployment models (build-to-suit, powered shell, turnkey, hybrid)
- Understand customer workload needs (cloud, AI training/ML, inference, enterprise)
- Define resilience, redundancy, availability, and network requirements.
- Translate customer needs into clear, achievable solutions aligned with Rowan’s platform.
- Establish solution boundaries early, identifying fixed requirements and areas of flexibility.
- Serve as the primary technical integrator across Engineering, Construction, Energy, Operations, Legal, and Commercial teams
- Balance speed, cost, resilience, standardization, and customization trade-offs
- Ensure recommendations are practical, sequenced, and aligned with customer timelines and commercial objectives
- Provide technical leadership for term sheets, cost reimbursement agreements, SLAs, leases, and related agreements
- Ensure technical language is precise, executable, and internally aligned
- Identify technical risk and support pragmatic mitigation strategies
- Partner closely with Customer Engagement leads and other BD leaders
- Support customer meetings, workshops, and solution reviews
- Help determine when technical alignment is sufficient to advance commercially
- Reduce prolonged or circular technical debates that delay contract progression
- Capture recurring customer requirements to inform Rowan’s standard offerings
- Maintain insight into industry trends across architectures, power density, cooling, energy integration, networking, and operations
- Ensure solutions meet current needs while remaining adaptable for future requirements
- Contribute to customer briefings and industry forums as a technical thought leader
Requirements
- 7–10+ years of experience in the data center industry or related infrastructure sectors.
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Data center design or engineering
- Construction or design-build delivery
- Facilities operations or other critical environments
- Technical sales, solutions engineering, or pre-construction
- Exposure to hyperscale and/or large-scale enterprise data center projects
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience)
- Deep understanding of data center systems (power, cooling, structure, controls, operations)
- Strong judgment in technical trade-offs and sequencing
- Clear, confident communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Highly customer-centric, trusted in direct customer interactions
- Pragmatic, execution-oriented, with strong cross-functional credibility.
