About the role
- Accountable for the overall performance of the manufacturing site
- Responsible for the day-to-day plant operations including safety, quality, productivity, delivery, cost, labor management, and continuous improvement
- Partner closely with union leadership and ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement
- Build a culture focused on operational excellence, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction
- Manage daily manufacturing operations to meet production, quality, delivery, and cost targets
- Drive continuous improvement in productivity, yield, scrap, uptime, and cycle time
- Own site operating budget and cost performance including labor, overtime, scrap, and operating expenses
- Drive cost‑reduction initiatives in partnership with cross‑functional teams
- Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and capital planning
- Champion quality systems and structured root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of defects
- Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing practices (e.g., 5S, standard work, Kaizen)
- Lead within a unionized workforce, administer the collective bargaining agreement, and support positive labor relations
- Coach and develop supervisors to ensure consistent leadership, fair policy application, and strong shop‑floor execution
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 6+ years of manufacturing operations leadership experience in a multi‑shift environment
- Strong knowledge of safety systems, production management, and continuous improvement
- Proven ability to develop teams, influence across functions, and drive results
- Demonstrated experience leading in a unionized manufacturing setting preferred
