About the role
- UI Asset Creation: Design and author high-quality UI assets (icons, buttons, borders, and menus) from scratch within Figma and Photoshop, ensuring they align with the project's art direction.
- Art & Design Integration: Ensure that UX flows and UI visuals work in alignment with good design practices and client expectations.
- Design to Engine Translation: Own the process of taking high-fidelity source files and translating them into performant, scalable in-engine assets without losing visual intent.
- UI & Design Implementation: Translate gameplay and UX requirements into functional, in-engine UI systems, ensuring designs are visually consistent, performant, and player-friendly.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Develop solutions for complex UI scenarios, leveraging your knowledge of shaders, engine workflows, and UI optimization techniques.
- Pipeline Development: Build and maintain efficient UI and asset workflows, ensuring that tools, templates, and processes are optimized for quality and speed.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a UI Tech Artist, UI Tech Designer, or similar role in game development.
- Strong Artistic Foundation: Proven ability to create production-ready UI assets and layouts using Figma and Adobe Photoshop.
- Expertise in Design Systems: Proficiency in building and maintaining Figma libraries, components, and auto-layouts to streamline the design-to-implementation pipeline.
- Technical Asset Prep: Deep understanding of how to structure source files for export, including slicing, sprite packing, and optimization for engine performance.
- Game Engine Proficiency: Experience with UI implementation in game engines (e.g. Unreal Engine UMG, Unity UI systems).
- Shader Knowledge: Working knowledge of shaders as applied to UI (e.g. Unreal Material Blueprints, HLSL).
- Proven Track Record: At least one shipped game; bonus points for console certification experience (Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5).
