About the role

  • Lead visioning, planning and execution of enterprise technology strategy at RLI
  • Ensure alignment of technology vision with business goals, especially P&C and Surety lines
  • Lead, mentor and inspire technology professionals including engineers, analysts, and architects
  • Develop long-term technology vision that balances legacy realities with a flexible future
  • Establish and administer technology standards, best practices and architectural frameworks
  • Keep current with emerging technologies and lead identification and implementation efforts
  • Collaborate with Project Management teams to incorporate best practices
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and partners and document their roadmaps
  • Foster agility, innovation and efficiency in implementations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field (typically required)
  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Certification in technology architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, FEAF, Zachman (preferred)
  • Insurance knowledge preferred or equivalent level of education and experience
  • In-depth understanding of P&C and Surety business lines (preferred)
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity and ability to incorporate practices into architecture
  • Strong foundation in data management for architecture design and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing technology and governance initiatives
  • Proven experience leading technology strategies in complex organizations
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse technology and business stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in financial services settings
  • Experience mentoring and guiding software engineers, business analysts, and architects
