About the role
- Standardize the validation and maintenance of automation systems, ensuring processes are documented, procedures are created, and team members are trained and competent.
- Innovate and introduce new automated systems where appropriate.
- Maintain and troubleshoot existing automated systems.
- Conduct root cause analysis to resolve technical issues within automation.
- Budget for and manage resources required to support automated systems.
- Develop and direct engineering resources allocated to automation engineering.
- Working with competing priorities of the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and the achievement of early NPI development, within a strict regulated quality system environment.
- Represent automation engineering in collaboration with automation, manufacturing (PFT), and NPI engineering teams.
- Lead cooperative efforts among project team members.
- Develop and implement strategic and operational objectives that align with the organizational mission.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with automated control systems and machinery.
- Proficiency with PLCs, robots, machine vision, servos, HMIs, and various sensor technologies utilized in modern automation systems.
- Experience with current safety standards, including ISO, IEC, and OSHA.
- Software skills desired in various languages, including PLC ladder logic, HMI design, structured text, Fanuc robot code, Python, SQL, LabVIEW, and Ignition.
- Experience with pneumatic and mechanical systems, including reading, understanding, and modifying mechanical drawings, electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Knowledge of networked and distributed IO, Ethernet IP, and IO Link.
- Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Molding automation cell development and maintenance.
- Development, validation, and maintenance of complex automated systems for medical device manufacturing cell.
- Knowledge of relevant business management systems (e.g., Microsoft software systems, GMP, Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies).
