About the role

  • Set Technical Vision & Roadmap – Define the multi‑year architecture, modernization, and cloud‑migration roadmap in partnership with Product, Data, Security, and Business leaders.
  • Lead & Grow Product‑Focused Teams – Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent; structure multiple squads around a product‑operating model and mentor managers toward a servant‑leadership culture.
  • Deliver Modern, Cloud‑Native Solutions – Champion micro‑services, event‑driven architectures, CI/CD, IaC, TDD, and DevSecOps to accelerate feature velocity while ensuring resiliency and compliance.
  • Drive Technology Modernization – Lead retirement of legacy platforms, re‑platforming to AWS/Azure/GCP, and adoption of platform engineering, observability, and SRE practices.
  • Data‑Driven Decision‑Making – Establish KPIs/OKRs, engineering productivity and quality metrics, and leverage analytics to guide prioritization and continuous improvement.
  • Financial & Vendor Management – Own capital & operating budgets, forecasting, and cost‑optimization; negotiate and govern contracts with strategic vendors and SIs.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership – Collaborate with Product, UX, Marketing, Operations, and Legal to translate business goals into technical execution plans and ship customer‑centric outcomes.
  • Operate with High Accountability – Manage risk, security, privacy, and compliance; own production readiness, incident response, and root‑cause remediation.
  • Influence Upwards & Outwards – Communicate complex technical strategies to C‑suite and Board; evangelize engineering excellence across the enterprise and industry.

Requirements

  • 15+ years’ progressive experience in software development, including 5+ years leading multi‑team/Director‑level organizations.
  • Proven track record delivering large‑scale cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and executing legacy‑to‑cloud modernization programs.
  • Demonstrated success operating in a product‑oriented model and shipping customer‑facing platforms at scale.
  • Strong people‑leadership skills: hiring, coaching, performance management, and career pathing for both employees and contract resources.
  • Expertise in modern architectures (micro‑services, APIs, event streaming), DevOps automation, and secure SDLC.
  • Data‑driven mindset with hands‑on experience defining and tracking business‑aligned engineering KPIs.
  • Financial acumen—budget ownership, cost management, and vendor negotiations.
  • Executive presence with ability to influence senior stakeholders and simplify complex concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in highly regulated or consumer‑services industries preferred.
  • Background standing up platform engineering, SRE, or developer‑experience functions preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, data‑platforms, and event‑stream analytics in cloud environments preferred.
