About the role
- Support, test, and enhance critical applications in the Para Markets and Trade Finance space
- Analyse and develop new functionalities within trade finance systems
- Integrate software components across internal and third-party applications
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation aligned with corporate development standards
- Test and certify software functionality and integration as part of the QA lifecycle
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to deploy and manage applications across multiple environments
- Continuously improve development processes and identify training or upskilling opportunities
- Contribute to application optimisation and software development best practices
- Work on backend systems using PySpark, AWS, and Java; contribute to large-scale digital transformation projects
- Operate as part of a cross-functional international team and deliver under pressure
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in backend or full-stack software development
- Proven experience in digital transformation or large-scale financial services projects
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- High level of English (spoken and written)
- Ability to work under pressure and within cross-functional global teams
- PySpark and Python
- AWS Services: Glue, EMR, Lambda, Athena, S3, VPC, EC2
- Java 8 or higher
- SQL
- Crystal Reports
- Kafka
- Git and GitHub
- Backend development with microservices and event-driven architecture
- Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
- CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Qlik Sense (nice to have)
- Knowledge of infrastructure deployment pipelines on AWS (nice to have)
- Experience with Trade Innovation (Finastra) application (nice to have)
- Basic knowledge of accounting, finance, and cloud computing (nice to have)
- Skilled South African developer eager to relocate to Málaga, Spain
