About the role

  • Lead a lean engineering/design team and manage senior lead architect
  • Drive hiring decisions and establish team structure, roles, and career development paths
  • Implement comprehensive agile development processes and sprint planning methodologies
  • Establish clear project management frameworks and structured development workflows
  • Drive team productivity and ensure consistent on-time delivery
  • Oversee all technical projects including primary social application and skunk works initiatives
  • Translate CEO vision into clear technical requirements and deliverables
  • Set and manage project timelines, milestones, and success metrics
  • Ensure technical decisions align with business objectives and company strategy
  • Serve as primary liaison between CEO and engineering team and provide weekly progress updates
  • Manage technical resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects

Requirements

  • 8+ years engineering management experience with demonstrated success scaling technical teams
  • Proven track record implementing agile processes and improving team productivity
  • Experience managing senior engineers and technical leads
  • History of successful project delivery in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Strong technical foundation to evaluate architecture decisions and technical proposals
  • Understanding of modern full-stack development practices and technologies
  • Experience with social applications, community platforms, or consumer-facing products
  • Familiarity with scaling technical infrastructure and development processes
  • Expertise in lean agile methodologies, sprint planning, and project management frameworks
  • Experience establishing development processes from early-stage through scale-up
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
  • Track record of hiring and developing high-performing engineering teams
  • Preferred background in scale-up environments managing lean teams
  • Experience bringing big tech discipline and processes to growing startups
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to establish structure in fast-moving environments
  • History of growing into expanded responsibilities as companies scale
