About the role
- Serves as the main point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing guidance on coverage changes and contractual requirements.
- Partners in the strategic development of insurance plans tailored to client needs.
- Acts as field underwriter and authorized representative of carriers to assess and bind coverage as appropriate.
- Strategically manages remarketing of renewals to ensure high account retention rates.
- Prepares client proposals, submissions, loss evaluations, and risk analyses; ensures timely and accurate quotations and policies.
- Communicates billing and invoicing options to clients.
- Prepares summaries of insurance and schedules; produces binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, and related documents.
- Assists clients in submitting first reports of claims and coordinates adjusters or claims team visits.
- Facilitates carrier responses to expedite claim settlements.
- Conducts policy reviews during renewals and audits; verifies accuracy and executes necessary corrections.
- Communicates significant audit discrepancies to clients and determines further action.
- Reviews cancellation requests, attempts to retain accounts while maintaining company financial integrity.
- Stays informed about industry developments, new products, legislation, coverage options, and technology.
- Recommends process improvements and resolves complex client service issues.
- Performs other projects, duties, and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Property and Casualty License from state of domicile required and must be maintained.
- Insurance designations preferred (e.g., AINS, CIC, CPCU, ARM).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; four-year degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years account management experience in the insurance industry with a focus on commercial lines of coverage.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus or required in some locations.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills for in-person and teleconference/webinar sessions.
- In-depth understanding of advanced commercial lines of coverage.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word).
- Computer literate with ability to learn new software applications.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of insurance markets, products, services, insurance ratings and underwriting procedures.
- Valid driver's license, ability to travel to client sites, and reliable transportation.
