About the role
- Red Hat's Office of the CTO (OCTO) team is seeking a motivated, self-directed and hands-on individual to lead our portfolio strategy for emerging AI-influenced trends in CPU, GPU, accelerators and their impact on server and data center designs.
- This individual will have experience with open source communities and partners, as well as a proven ability to evangelize strategy through presentations and publications, develop portfolio strategies and utilize metrics to measure success.
- What You Will Do
- Identify, align and lead Red Hat's strategy for changes in AI-driven server/data center designs, co-processor architectures (like GPU, NPU, FPGA, Quantum Computing), server interconnects and processor architectures (like x86, ARM, RISC-V)
- May involve influencing new features in core kernel APIs, container platforms, compilers, and developer toolchains (e.g. Triton, Mojo, CUDA)
- Could impact infrastructure, app-level services, and their control planes
- May require an advocate for a supportive ecosystem to ensure long-term viability
- Own and maintain an internal technical alignment document (POV) that guides Red Hat's coordinated response to evolving computational infrastructure POV will be informed by customers, partners, upstream communities and internal Red Hat teams, and will be a living document
- Ensure the POV provides clear, actionable guidance for product and engineering teams
- Drive the POV by collaborating with internal business and engineering teams, working with Product Engineering to address gaps identified in the POV, participating in and influencing relevant upstream projects and meeting with partners to gather feedback and drive actions
- Lead engineering projects within OCTO and in collaboration with product teams to advance and refine the POV
- Take a significant engineering leadership role in project execution
- Prioritize projects based on available resources
- Allocate work and track progress
- Gather and incorporate feedback from internal teams, upstream communities, partners, and customers
- Keep stakeholders informed about project progress
- Define and support plans for productization
- Increase external visibility by meeting with customers, partners, press and analysts, speaking at conferences and seminars, and producing and publicizing collateral
- Champion upstream communities crucial to the POV's success
- Support field teams in strategic discussions with customers and partners

- Deep understanding of new accelerator hardware and the ability to guide product portfolio enablement
- Familiarity with all aspects of Linux architecture and the upstream kernel community
- Experience designing validation and verification tools for computational infrastructure
- Experience collaborating with Linux and non-Linux OS vendors on standardizing new compute architectures
- Familiarity with the global legislative landscape regarding security and export restrictions
- Experience with open source software development and secure software development practices
- Experience with Linux-based developer tools, including CI, containers, and container technologies
- Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
