About the role
- You will work closely with artists, designers, and other programmers to help develop immersive features that support the player experience.
- Assess task complexity and break down work to meet project milestones.
- Write clear, maintainable, portable, and highly functional code.
- Identify issues and opportunities, and brainstorm to find interesting solutions.
- Perform other related tasks within Red Barrels' programming team and contribute to all aspects of The Outlast Trials' development.
- Be results-oriented and enjoy working with fast, efficient iterations.
- Work with the designer to create user-friendly visual scripts for networking.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional C++ experience and experience in game development programming.
- Familiarity with current gameplay and game systems trends.
- Experience working on a multiplayer or live game.
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4.
- AI experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with bug-tracking software (e.g., Jira) and version control systems (e.g., Perforce).
- Passionate, solution-oriented, proactive, and autonomous.
- Enjoys analyzing competitors' games and providing references for 3C, gameplay ingredients, and core mechanics across different game types.
