About the role

  • To effectively manage and oversee operations across four Alliance Healthcare link points and drivers to ensure the Service Centre Transport Fleet function delivers agreed financial and customer service objectives.
  • Ensure all transport operations are conducted legally, safely, and in full compliance with Health & Safety obligations to drivers and members of the public.
  • Take responsibility for all areas of people management for direct reports, including coaching, nurturing talent, and motivating the team.
  • Manage driver rotas to ensure trained cover for absences, maintaining operational continuity.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ensure transport operational costs remain within budget by implementing and monitoring robust control mechanisms.
  • Maintain all vehicles to company and legislative standards, ensuring safety and reliability.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with relevant UK transport legislation, such as DVSA regulations and health and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contractual requirements within a logistics or transport environment.
  • Awareness of company-specific compliance standards and KPIs.
  • Experience in driving operational efficiencies and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools including 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams.
