About the role
- Manages Distribution Centers’ carrier networks in an assigned divisional territory
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining outbound shipments, managing the carrier RFP process, maintaining routing systems, maintaining carrier / DC relationships
- Manage relationships with FTL (full Truckload), LTL (less than truckload) carriers and AmerisourceBergen business units
- Responsible for system management of all transportation applications
- Analyzes and reviews routes to optimize opportunities to reduce cost and identify delivery opportunities
- Responsible for improving carrier delivery quality and ensuring metrics compliance
- Responsible for pulling data from various sources such as TMS, PkMS, SAP, AS400 and/or others
- Participate in carrier interviews providing guidance for negotiation and selection to the Transportation Director and/or Director of Operations
- Compile and execute carrier RFP’s for FTL, LTL, Fleet and other modes as identified
- Responsible for contracts and amendment processes
- Responsible for providing and analyzing Transportation reports
- Responsible for identifying root cause and addressing with carrier to correct unfavorable trends
- Responsible for quarterly business reviews providing key metric data to the appropriate business partners
- Owner of weekly pre bill / TMS invoice process and submission of electronic file for invoicing
- Responsible for system routing changes which includes delivery times, rating groups, signature groups
- Responsible for resolving escalating delivery issues that have been identified by customer care and other resources
- Complies with all appropriate policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Responsible for managing transportation specialists in remote role
Requirements
- Requires training and experience in fields such as transportation, business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, logistics, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Normally requires a minimum of six (6) years directly related and progressively responsible experience
- People manager with 5+ years preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at all levels of the organization
- Good analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
- Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
- Ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently and prevent reoccurrence
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
- Ability to plan and conduct effective meetings
- Working knowledge of Cencora business processes preferred
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Access databases, Word and queries
