About the role

- Review and implement appropriate and scalable processes for objective setting, performance reviews, and career development to support the team’s growth.
- Design and evolve the organisational structure of the team.
- Lead headcount planning and hiring strategies to proactively identify and close critical skills gaps.
- Balance the cadence of feature releases against platform stability and technical debt to ensure the team meets business goals without compromising quality or uptime.
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Detection, Sales, and other teams to ensure alignment and transparency across the company.
- Oversee vendor and partner relationships, ensuring effective use of external resources and cost-efficiency.
- Evaluate and implement partners, tools, frameworks and processes that improve engineering efficiency.
- Maintain oversight of compliance and audit progress, acting as an escalation point to resolve blockers and any cross-team friction.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role, managing large distributed teams (10+ people), covering the full lifecycle of people management from coaching and development to managing underperformance
- A strong technical background with expertise in software development and delivery, with a focus on:
- - Deep understanding of cloud-native environments (GCP desirable)
- - Proven ability in architectural decision-making and technical trade-offs
- - Expertise in modern software tooling and CI/CD delivery processes
- Experience in SaaS or complex technology environments is essential; background in FinTech or Payments is a plus
- Experience managing compliance, audit and security best practices
- Skilled in organisational leadership, with the ability to balance technical strategy, people development and business priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to engage effectively across multiple functions in technical and non-technical areas.
