About the role
- Maintain a master list of monthly journal entries, creating recurring journal entry templates.
- Perform the daily Accounts Payable function, as well as the monthly Fixed Asset and Prepaid function, ensuring all new assets are properly classified and inputted and monthly depreciation is processed.
- Complete reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate processing and posting of all account entries.
- Prepare month-end journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist with general accounting functions.
- Review and analyze general ledger accounts, analyze, and interpret variances.
- Prepare work papers for internal and external audits.
- Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner.
- Assist in performing financial and operational analyses with the goal of improving efficiency of operations, ensuring compliance with established accounting procedures.
- Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree (or equivalent); OR high school diploma (or equivalent) plus two years of experience in functional area.
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of relevant state, federal, and local regulations.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 products and accounting software.
- Willingness to pursue continuing education, certifications, etc. as applicable to advancing in the organization.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to speak confidently.
- An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities change daily, and where employees wear many hats.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to think "outside the box" and prioritize tasks and decisions in a timely manner.
- Self-directed, yet effective working as part of a collaborative team.
