About the role
- Manage the full lifecycle of enterprise storage and backup environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Oversee day-to-day storage and backup operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis to maintain data availability and integrity.
- Support data migrations and work closely with system administrators to resolve storage-related issues and optimize performance.
- Contribute to service improvements, future architecture planning, and operational automation.
- Design and architect end-to-end storage and backup infrastructure solutions based on customer requirements, utilizing deep expertise in NetBackup and Commvault.
- Manage the full lifecycle of storage and backup infrastructure which includes gathering, design, implementation, Day 2 support, and decommissioning, across multiprotocol environments such as Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS within NetApp NAS systems.
- Perform technology watch; contribute to strategy and evolution of existing services, as well as future architecture evolution around communication platforms.
- Support and manage various Netbackup storage products.
- Implement multiprotocol environments like FC, iSCSI, NFS and CIFS in NetApp NAS environment.
- Manage and troubleshoot backup operations (day to day), perform root cause analysis for backup issues, hands-on experience with troubleshooting on restores.
- Migrate data for various hosts like Solaris, AIX, Linux and Windows hosts.
- Work with systems administrators to troubleshoot related storage problems or performance.
- Perform storage allocations, LUN masking, and data migrations.
- Perform performance monitoring on storage and set up alerts & notification.
- Develop, update, and implement CLI scripts for Netbackup and fiber switch configuration and administration.
- Participate in planning and implementation of storage array changes including firmware version, and storage virtualization.
- Define requirements and specifications with internal groups in an Agile setting (Epics and User Stories)
Requirements
- 7 years of expertise in the design and architecture of storage and backup systems based on customer requirements.
- 7 years of hands-on experience in enterprise-level data storage technologies including ONTAP, Hitachi, StorageGRID, and SAN BROCADE (focusing on FC networking).
- 7 years of experience in backup and recovery solutions using NetBackup and Commvault, ensuring data integrity and compliance across enterprise environments.
- 7 years of experience in managing technical operations and administration in IT data storage and backup, optimizing performance, availability, and scalability.
- 7 years of experience in deploying and maintaining multiprotocol environments such as FC, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS, particularly within NetApp NAS systems.
- 5 years of general networking experience.
- Working knowledge of VMware, OpenStack, and Kubernetes (K8s) for virtualization and container orchestration.
- Familiarity with Python scripting and database systems such as MS SQL and Oracle DB for automation and data management tasks.
- Experience using Jira for issue tracking and project management in agile environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
