About the role
- Delivering medium and low voltage electrical design solutions for outdoor and unit substations, power transformers, protection and control schemes, and related EPC projects in both brownfield and greenfield environments.
- Developing equipment specifications, reviewing field data, and performing system studies including coordination, short circuit, and arc flash analysis.
- Collaborating with CAD staff to produce and update electrical drawings, and providing technical recommendations based on power monitoring data.
- Acting as a Qualus representative, supporting sales during customer site walks and leading cross-functional interactions to ensure optimal project outcomes.
- Resource planning, project kickoff participation, adherence to safety standards, accurate documentation for invoicing, and coordination with suppliers to meet material and equipment requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related from an ABET accredited institution, preferred with a focus on power systems.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License preferred.
- 5+ years of design engineering experience on primary power distribution, P&C schemes, and/or electrical equipment.
- Experience developing relay protective setpoints and settings files.
- Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, ANSI C57, ANSI C37, and NESC, and other applicable codes and standards in the design of substations and industrial power distribution.
- 2-5 years of AutoCAD experience.
- 2-5 years using power systems modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, and/or EasyPower.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers.
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and with a high attention to detail.
