About the role

  • Direct construction management and report to Project Director for underground projects in Connecticut.
  • Manage construction activities, startup support, and technical activities per project plans and specifications.
  • Aggressively manage and inspect day-to-day activities of multiple electric contractor crews for substation and transmission line work.
  • Facilitate installation of electric infrastructure ensuring safety standards, construction standards, specifications, and regulations are met.
  • Manage performance objectives for cycle time and cost; verify unit quantities and approve contractor documentation.
  • Schedule and coordinate electric system outages and coordinate permits with third-party utilities and agencies.
  • Maintain frequent contact with contractor supervision and customer coordination; perform job walk-downs and storm duty assignments.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of Company work, environmental, and safety practices, including a working knowledge of electric operations, and the ability to maintain or obtain switching and outage authorization.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, construction standards, regulations (OSHA), and safety requirements for electric distribution and substation construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of PC and job/work management applications including AS8, Atlas, Mobile Maps & MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage and inspect day-to-day activities of electric contractor crews and oversee cable installations and cut-ins.
  • Experience coordinating permits, third-party utilities, outages, and customer/site readiness verification.
  • Knowledgeable about distribution contracts and contract compliance.
  • Ability to perform weekly safety audits and document performance in Asset Suite Safety Audit/Observation Tool.
