About the role
- Design, deploy, and support VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter)
- Perform upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of VMware infrastructures
- Configure and manage:
- - VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion
- - VMFS and vSAN clusters
- Lead P2V and V2V migrations using VMware Converter and third‑party tools
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance, availability, and capacity issues
- Support VMware enterprise products:
- - VMware Horizon (VDI)
- - VMware NSX (preferred)
- - VMware Aria/vRealize Suite (Operations, Automation)
- Design and implement AWS infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise workloads
- Hands-on experience with:
- - EC2, EBS, EFS, S3
- - VPC, subnets, route tables, IGW, NAT Gateway
- - Elastic Load Balancers, Auto Scaling
- Migrate workloads from on‑prem VMware to AWS using:
- - VMware Cloud on AWS (preferred)
- - AWS Application Migration Service (MGN)
- Implement backup, DR, and high‑availability architectures in AWS
- Understand cost optimization (FinOps) and performance tuning in AWS
- Work with IAM, security groups, NACLs, and basic AWS security best practices
- Automate provisioning and operations using:
- - PowerShell / PowerCLI
- - AWS CLI
- - Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform – preferred)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools for both VMware and AWS environments
- Work with enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS)
- Configure and support backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, AWS Backup)
- Collaborate with network teams on VLANs, routing, firewall integration, and security
- Act as a technical lead on infrastructure and migration projects
- Provide architecture guidance and design documentation
- Conduct workshops, assessments, and knowledge transfer sessions
- Work directly with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight
Requirements
- 12–18 years of experience in VMware virtualization
- Strong hands-on AWS experience in production environments
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Experience in enterprise data center and cloud environments
- Strong communication and documentation skills
