About the role

  • Senior Oracle Database Administrator — India | Multiple time zones available | Remote | Hyderabad.
  • Coordination, analysis, design, implementation, and administration of database solutions, including database server configuration and maintenance.
  • Analyze customers' infrastructure/processes and recommend best practices to improve operations, uptime, and recoverability.
  • Administer backup procedures and disaster recovery plans; provide proactive monitoring, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot operational problems.
  • Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, and restoration; develop and review maintenance, deployment, and upgrade action plans; maintain client documentation.
  • Assist Lead Database Consultant with Incident Management, Problem Management, Change and Service Request implementation, and design/implement technical procedures for complex changes.
  • Prepare customer status and incident reports; respond to customer requests and maintain alignment with customer operating procedures.
  • Maintain customer-specific assets such as soft/hard access tokens and access cards.
  • Lead team processes including handovers, documentation, process acknowledgements, and incident reviews.
  • Enhance Pythian tools and processes; design/implement monitoring checks, DBA toolkit enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Participate in sales support activities such as presales, proposal preparation, and technical calls.
  • Contribute to external profile: prepare marketing collateral, present at conferences or user groups, and blog on technology topics.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of database administration experience managing Oracle databases (including Oracle RAC); basics of Oracle Exadata.
  • Curiosity mindset and tenacity to fully diagnose issues.
  • Troubleshooting and performance improvement skills (AWR, ADDM reports); index creation, query optimization, schema changes.
  • Understanding of database security management.
  • Experience managing logical and physical standby databases.
  • Knowledge of Oracle DataGuard and GoldenGate replication.
  • Required knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager and basic Linux knowledge.
