About the role
- Help clients evaluate, redesign, implement and manage their health and welfare and retirement benefits programmes
- Support clients with active and retiree plan performance management, vendor selection, provider strategy, financial reporting and cost driver analysis
- Provide strategic, analytic and technical support to payer and provider clients
- Analyze clients' medical claim data to understand historical trends and suggest savings initiatives
- Write medical cost and risk adjustment analytics using SAS and develop predictive analytics
- Create strategic roadmaps for clients entering new lines of business or markets, including proformas
- Analyze company financial statements and identify reporting or allocation opportunities
- Support payers and providers in value-based care transitions and M&A financial due diligence
- Develop and utilize pricing models to forecast earnings, budgets and certify rate filings
- Complete IBNR reserve analyses and assess actuarial balances for audits
- Innovate with new technologies and next-generation analytical solutions; work with large, complex data sets and data visualization tools
- Coach others, resolve team issues, develop new skills, analyze complex ideas and build meaningful recommendations as a Manager (PwC Professional expectations)
Requirements
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor Degree
- Minimum Years of Experience: 5 year(s)
- Degree Preferred: Master Degree
- Preferred Fields of Study: Actuarial Science, Mathematical Economics, Mathematics, Analytics, Public Policy Analysis, Economics, Finance, Mathematical Statistics, Statistics
- Certification(s) Preferred: ASA Designation Preferred
- Demonstrates extensive abilities and/or a proven record of success as a team leader in the Payer and/or Provider industries
- Experience leading functions or projects involving actuarial aspects of commercial and government programs including pricing, underwriting, health plan financial reporting, data analysis, and risk adjustment
- Interpreting and applying regulatory requirements and standards
- Entrepreneurial capability to identify and evaluate new business opportunities and innovate processes and products
- Managing multiple projects and deadlines and managing others
- Working with management and senior level executives
- Understanding actuarial aspects of commercial and government healthcare programs
- Analyzing clients medical claim data and writing medical cost and risk adjustment analytics using SAS
- Developing predictive analytics and pricing models; completing IBNR reserve analyses
- Working with large, complex data sets and data visualization tools
