About the role
- Maintain accurate records of adjuster licenses and corporate licenses across all jurisdictions.
- Track renewal dates and ensure timely submission of applications and fees.
- Coordinate with HR and management for onboarding and offboarding licensing requirements.
- Ensure all licensing and examination processes address examination registrations, applications for first applications, reapplications, and amendments of licenses; standard corporate/partnership amalgamations and purchases reviews; requests for termination (cancellation) of licenses, and changes in authorizations to represent per legislations, Council rules, and other applicable regulations.
- Ensure company policies align with licensing laws and regulatory standards.
- Act as the primary liaison with provincial insurance councils and regulatory authorities.
- Maintains an understanding of and remains current on Council rules, licensing operations and practices, legislation, regulatory trends, and their implications.
- Prepare compliance reports for internal audits and regulatory reviews.
- Identify and address gaps in licensing compliance processes.
- Contributes to departmental frameworks and audits to ensure that licensing processes are compliant and accurate.
- Leads the mapping of licensing pathways and addresses implications of organizational changes across the different application streams.
- Manages all licensing trends and forecast discussions and regularly reviews all licence application pathways to identify improvement areas.
- Manages the development and implementation competency frameworks and the creation of program manual for education providers.
- Executes department changes while communicating the implications of such changes to different stakeholders.
- Participates in developing presentations and documents for new and returning applicants and other stakeholders on licence matters.
- Builds and maintains relationships with peers, other regulators, and agencies.
- Monitors and addresses concerns raised by licensing teams.
- Performs other duties as identified.
- Assess compliance risks and recommend/develop mitigation strategies.
- Implement corrective actions for non-compliance issues.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Insurance, or related field.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian insurance regulations and licensing requirements.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Compliance Management systems and various other software and compliance management systems.
- Fluent in French an asset
- Minimum 5-8 years experience in compliance, licensing, or regulatory roles within the insurance industry.
- Familiarity with provincial insurance councils (e.g., Alberta Insurance Council, etc.)
- Experience in managing multi-jurisdictional licensing requirements
- Background in independent adjusting or insurance brokerage is an asset
