About the role
- Lead the month, quarter, and year-end close procedures, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial statement line items in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Conduct technical accounting research on complex issues and new pronouncements, assess their impact, and drive implementation.
- Oversee multi-state and country sales tax compliance, including reconciliation of tax liability accounts to the general ledger and management of filing processes.
- Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment aligned with public company readiness standards, including documentation of business workflows and accounting policies.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing workflows to ensure accurate revenue-related processing and timely collections.
- Partner with Sales and RevOps to ensure correct recording of revenue transactions under ASC 606.
- Process payroll for domestic and international employees and contractors, ensuring accurate and timely completion of across jurisdictions.
- Identify gaps and efficiency opportunities across financial systems and workflows; implement scalable solutions and best practices.
- Leverage modern accounting tools and AI capabilities to increase team efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Requirements
- 7 to 12 years of related accounting experience, including meaningful time in public accounting.
- Startup and/or high-growth tech company experience - ability to build processes under resource constraints and move fast without sacrificing accuracy.
- Effective operating in fast paced environments, growth mindset, can be comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Proactively build or improve processes and controls while balancing speed and rigor.
- Deep expertise in US GAAP, particularly revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), and internal controls.
- Proven ability to manage audits and own external auditor relationships.
- Experience with accounting systems (Netsuite preferred), advanced proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets, and other modern finance tools.
- Experience with international payroll and multi-entity accounting.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
- CPA strongly preferred but not required.
