About the role
- Prepares and directs others in the preparation of engineering plans, designs, specifications, and standards.
- Develops and prepares engineering studies to identify specific program objectives and establish investment levels.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of industry codes and regulations and leads team in compliance and research.
- Prepares cost estimates and project or program evaluations.
- Interacts and coordinates directly with internal and external customers to understand project requirements.
- Performs or manages the creation and updating of job work orders and project documentation including tasks, calculations, and reporting.
- Conducts complex office and field research, measurement and verification of equipment data, and creates and updates equipment records.
- Leads, directs and performs data and records management.
- Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements; interprets and/or modifies guidelines.
- Coordinates the work of others including contractors/consultants and may function in a technical leadership role.
- Drives improvements and maintains department standards, processes, templates, tools and databases.
- Communicates complex technical information, checks and reviews complex project work of others, provides technical leadership, training, and mentorship.
- Supports emergency response work as requested including immediate and extended restoration efforts.
Requirements
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent technical certificate in design or pre-engineering and 3-5 years of relevant experience, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge of subject matter within assigned area of focus, and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
- Organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Expert with PC and design software, and other database applications.
- Desired: Experience in design, preparation of specifications, technical field work, or system studies.
- Desired: Experience in project cost estimating or scheduling.
- Desired: Experience working with both internal and external customers on projects.
- Desired: Knowledge of engineering economics & analysis.
