About the role
- Provide legal advice and counsel to internal business clients on a range of issues such as insurance, warranty, finance and corporate laws.
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements and other legal documents that support APD’s business with dealerships, producers, agents, and lenders.
- Collaborate with others effectively across Protective’s businesses, establishing and maintaining productive working relationships to deliver results.
- Under direction of Vice President, Senior Counsel, participate in the legal department’s efforts in connection with strategic development, implementation and monitoring of new products, services, programs and other initiatives.
- Research state insurance and finance laws and regulations; write memoranda, as required, to management and/or company personnel on the applicability or effect of such laws and regulations.
- Other job duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Law degree from ABA accredited law school
- Currently admitted to a state bar and in good standing
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in insurance or regulated financial industries and legal environments
- Specific knowledge of F&I products (vehicle service contracts/GAP) and related industry participation programs preferred
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with and coordinate with others
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite
