About the role

  • Design scalable mechanical packaging solutions for chronically implanted electronics and implantable components.
  • Execute hands-on design, testing, and process development tasks for mechanical packaging of implantable electronic components.
  • Complete hands-on assembly, integration, and testing tasks while enforcing rigorous quality control.
  • Create and update end-user technical documentation, product specifications, and vendor procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including neurosurgery, electrical, software, materials, bio engineers, and neuroscientists.
  • Publish and present technical work and support commercialization and production readiness.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Biomedical Engineering (BME) or similar.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in mechanical engineering roles, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Experience designing parts for CNC, injection molding, 3D printing, and die stamping manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience designing class III medical devices with implantable electronics
  • Experience with medical leads, connectors, and feedthroughs.
  • Experience designing, evaluating, and debugging hermetic seals, laser welded/brazed joints, and thick film metalization.
  • Experience with compression molding, liquid injection molding, or overmolding
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to collaborate with neuroscientists, neurosurgeons, and electrical, software, materials, and bio engineers.
  • Expert in CAD (we use SolidWorks) and finite element analysis FEA
  • Track record of working towards accelerated timelines.
  • Comfortable with creative problem solving, collaborating, and taking charge of projects from concept to production.
  • Must be currently based in the United States, and have working rights.
