About the role
- Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment.
- Additionally, this position is responsible for technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects.
- Daily travel with independent work structure.
- Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call.
- Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments.
- Battery installations and replacements.
- Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled.
- Customer contact and interface.
- Communicate availability status to corporate office.
- Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records.
- Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary.
- Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary.
- Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition.
- Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards.
- Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately.
- Provide technical support to customers upon request.
- Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review.
- Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary.
- Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools.
- Cross train in other areas as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+
- Proficient with preventative maintenance, retrofitting basic controls, minor ATS repairs and loadbanking equipment.
- All Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience or equivalent field experience.
- Ability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming and replacing failed engine components.
- Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems, able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction.
- Ability to read and decipher electronic schematics and troubleshoot discreet mechanical and electronic systems to the component level with guidance from our Product Support team.
- Experience with or ability to quickly learn advanced generator and electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electric controls environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures.
- Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must observe all safety standards.
- Computer fluent, with specific attention to ERP systems, email and Microsoft Office products.
- Maintain professional appearance on the job.
