About the role

  • Manage and service an assigned book of business, including escalated service and billing issues.
  • Maintain benefits administration portals (Employee Navigator, Rippling, Paylocity, etc.).
  • Research carriers, products, and services for small and middle market groups.
  • Assist clients with administrative setup and ongoing management of their benefits plans.
  • Prepare, process, review, and monitor policies, renewals, reports, applications, policy changes, billings, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with Producers, Account Managers, and Benefits Analysts on implementation and renewal processes.
  • Provide guidance and support related to state and federal compliance requirements (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Healthcare Reform, Medicare).
  • Develop employee communications for open enrollment and wellness initiatives.
  • Maintain renewal reports, mailing lists, client data sheets, benefits booklets, and contribution sheets.
  • Perform marketing for small group accounts.
  • Conduct or assist with employee meetings (may include varying hours and locations).
  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships and stay current with industry updates and offerings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of related industry experience
  • Advanced knowledge of small and mid-size group benefits programs
  • Valid, unrestricted California Life & Disability License (with continuing education compliance)
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance regulations including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Healthcare Reform, and Medicare
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines
  • Professional presence with the ability to interface confidently with executive-level clients
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-service driven environment
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
