About the role

  • Provide executive oversight and strategic leadership for complex, high-exposure liability claims, including general liability, auto liability, umbrella/excess, and professional liability
  • Serve as a senior claims advocate for key clients, managing catastrophic, litigated, and sensitive claims
  • Advise clients on coverage interpretation, liability assessment, reserve strategy, and settlement approach
  • Lead claim reviews, reserve evaluations, and litigation strategy meetings with carriers and defense counsel
  • Oversee litigation management practices, including selection, coordination, and performance oversight of defense counsel
  • Evaluate litigation strategies, budgets, and outcomes to ensure alignment with client objectives
  • Monitor verdict, settlement, and legal trend developments impacting liability exposures
  • Proactively escalate and resolve claim handling issues related to coverage disputes, delays, or service concerns
  • Develop and implement claims best practices, standards, and training across the brokerage
  • Lead internal training sessions on E&O trends, exposures, and coverage strategies
  • Perform other duties, projects, and research as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional designations preferred (CPCU, ARM, SCLA, AIC, and/or JD)
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in liability claims and litigation management
  • Deep knowledge of insurance policy interpretation and claims best practices
  • Proven ability to engage with executive stakeholders, legal counsel, and insurance carriers
  • Extensive experience managing complex, litigated, and catastrophic liability claims
  • Strong background in alternative dispute resolution and complex settlement negotiations
  • Experience in an insurance brokerage, risk advisory firm, carrier, or TPA environment
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly
  • Proven leadership and critical-thinking skills with the ability to influence and build consensus
