About the role

  • Support and grow within the Financial Aid team in the Graduate and Professional Studies Student Financial Services office
  • Process financial aid to help students’ educational dreams become a reality
  • Review, evaluate, and verify federal financial aid applications and all submitted documentation to ensure accuracy and equity
  • Perform file verification, packaging, awarding, and revisions of financial aid program funds
  • Make recommendations to the Director on financial aid office policies and procedures
  • Assist with audits, reconciliations, and federal and state reporting as needed
  • Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences to stay current on legislation regarding student financial aid programs
  • Work independently and in group settings
  • Assist with or present at financial aid information sessions for prospective students, parents, and community groups
  • Work closely with GPS One-Stop Financial Counselors, Student Financial Services, Student Success Counselors, and Records to facilitate effective communication and service delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferred higher education or at least one year of direct experience in financial aid
  • Experience and knowledge of federal and state financial aid processes, although it is not required
  • Ability to effectively utilize Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, and Excel in daily operations
  • Self-motivated and able to work with regular check-ins and supervision from department leaders or teammates
  • Keen eye for detail with a commitment to high-quality work
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments with fluctuating priorities and heavy workloads
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and analytical abilities
  • Knowledge and experience in working with a diverse population are preferred.
