About the role
- Support and grow within the Financial Aid team in the Graduate and Professional Studies Student Financial Services office
- Process financial aid to help students’ educational dreams become a reality
- Review, evaluate, and verify federal financial aid applications and all submitted documentation to ensure accuracy and equity
- Perform file verification, packaging, awarding, and revisions of financial aid program funds
- Make recommendations to the Director on financial aid office policies and procedures
- Assist with audits, reconciliations, and federal and state reporting as needed
- Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences to stay current on legislation regarding student financial aid programs
- Work independently and in group settings
- Assist with or present at financial aid information sessions for prospective students, parents, and community groups
- Work closely with GPS One-Stop Financial Counselors, Student Financial Services, Student Success Counselors, and Records to facilitate effective communication and service delivery.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Preferred higher education or at least one year of direct experience in financial aid
- Experience and knowledge of federal and state financial aid processes, although it is not required
- Ability to effectively utilize Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, and Excel in daily operations
- Self-motivated and able to work with regular check-ins and supervision from department leaders or teammates
- Keen eye for detail with a commitment to high-quality work
- Thrives in fast-paced environments with fluctuating priorities and heavy workloads
- Demonstrates excellent communication and analytical abilities
- Knowledge and experience in working with a diverse population are preferred.
