About the role

  • Contribute to the implementation of new end-to-end indirect tax processes as part of cross-functional projects supporting the company’s growth
  • Review commercial contracts with new partners to determine tax implications in the applicable jurisdictions
  • Prepare Canadian indirect tax returns and associated remittances
  • Analyze and prepare tax account balances/reconciliations and record all tax-related journal entries
  • Assist with international tax compliance procedures, federal excise taxes and other tax obligations, and coordinate with external consultants as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Support government tax audits and compliance reviews by gathering and preparing all required documentation and correspondence
  • Conduct research, perform data analysis, and participate in assigned projects and other related tasks
  • Stay up to date on relevant federal, provincial and foreign legislative and regulatory changes, identify tax issues, provide recommendations to management and implement necessary adjustments to maintain best practices

Requirements

  • University degree in accounting, taxation or a related field (preferred)
  • Professional CPA designation (preferred)
  • 2–3 years of tax experience at a Big Four firm
  • Experience in Canadian taxation, strong knowledge of GST/HST and QST filings, and experience dealing with the CRA and Revenu Québec
  • Knowledge of international tax regulations (an asset)
  • French language proficiency (an asset)
  • Experience in e-commerce and other technology industries (an asset)
  • Experience in tax research
  • Ability to work independently, meet objectives and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines
  • Ability to analyze, assess and resolve a variety of issues to ensure accuracy and timely delivery
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUP) and tax technologies
