About the role
- Providing daily/weekly touches to client contacts via phone, email, etc. to solicit opportunities.
- Actively accept tenders, manage spot opportunities.
- Ensure that day to day activities of assigned team is meeting the needs of the customer.
- Monitor overall service levels/metrics for assigned customers.
- Guide assigned employees and ensure that they have adequate training and development.
- Work with Rate Department and Margin Department to develop shipper/carrier rates.
- Participate in customer service account reviews with assigned accounts, including metrics reporting as requested.
- Develop strategies to achieve market share goals for assigned accounts.
- Ensure the profit objective for the accounts are satisfied.
- Network within assigned accounts to build relationships with new contacts and identify growth opportunities.
- Work with Capacity Managers to identify lanes that require carrier recruitment.
- Work with other Account Managers to create packages of lanes that will keep carriers within the PLS network.
- Own the relationship and do all necessary tasks to make the clients/division profitable and successful.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong negotiating skills
- Knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry
